Why Asheville?
Fall is the perfect time of year to visit Asheville to take in the mountain views and the changing leaves. Since I live in Charlotte, the commute is very short, i’m talking only 2 hours away, but Asheville makes you feel like you’ve traveled very far since the vibe is completely different than the Queen City. I love the Asheville because the crisp mountain air, the locals are friendly, the trails are gorgeous, the pace is slow, and the restaurant scene is BOMMBBB! Plus after being quarantined, anytime I can safely get out the house, I’m all in for a change of scenery. People usually visit Asheville for the Biltmore, but since we’ve been there and done that, this blog shares other cool things about the city near the Downtown area.
The location pictured is Beaver lake. It was located 1 mile away from where we were staying, so we had the opportunity to do a nature walk on the Beaver lake trail, and visit the bird sanctuary, and it was picturesque and breathtakingly beautiful.
Lodging
We stayed in the cutest Airbnb that was located minutes from Downtown Asheville, near grocery stores, local restaurants, and beaver lake. Staying in an Airbnb, especially with covid concerns was amazing because we were in a controlled and clean environment that offered us our own space, kitchen and living area. The host decorated the place with bold and fun decor, and the bed had a weighted blanket as the comforter, and I’ve never slept better.

Self-Care
While in Asheville, I got my very first Thai Massage at Blazing Lotus Healing House. A Thai massage involves assisted stretching, energy work and compressions. It allowed me to fully relax, breathe, and focus on the feeling, positioning and depth of the stretch. After my Thai Massage, my body felt so relaxed, and it worked out all the kinks in my back and shoulders. It’s very active, and the massage takes place on a padded floor pad versus a massage table, so I’d recommend wearing athletic gear so that you are comfortable and not exposed during your session.
Example of Thai Massage technique.
