I love everything about Fridays! The weekend is near and thanks to my jobs casual Friday policy; I get to trade in my business corporate attire for something a little more comfortable. Since the term “casual” can be interpreted in many ways, I wanted to provide a little guidance on how to style corporate, casual looks. Casual Friday can mean different things to different companies, but no matter what, you should not show up to work in your flip flops. When choosing what to wear, remember that a job is a place where business is conducted, and in order to maintain your professionalism, your wardrobe should still mean business. I put together a corporate casual look by building on a classic, staple wardrobe piece; a striped button down blouse from Banana Republic. A blouse makes a casual look maintain its professionalism, and adding a blazer provides a polished finish. When I shop for professional wear, I shop the petite section for styles tailored to my body type. When it comes to jeans, I avoid wearing distressed styles or acid washes in the workplace. Don’t get me wrong, i’m all about these trends, however the office environment is not the place to show these styles off. When it comes to shoes, I usually choose comfortable pumps or ballet flats. My rule of thumb is to never wear flip-flops or sneakers in a professional environment.

On Fridays, I usually try to go out and grab lunch, so I always throw a cute pair of sunglasses in my purse to be prepared for my lunch walk. I absolutely love my brown, tortuous toned shades by Banana Republic. They come with a protective case which I need because I have the bad habit of breaking glasses.

As for jackets, I try to keep a blazer or cardigan with me at all times in case the temperature changes. On any day in North Carolina, it can be cold, hot and cold again in matter of hours, so I stay prepared.
