Last night, I attended Gantt After Dark. It was an amazing event hosted by the Harvey B. Gantt Center in Charlotte, NC. This museum holds a special place in my heart because it’s the location where my husband surprised me with a proposal in February of 2015.
I wanted to celebrate black history month with a cultural experience, and the event did not disappoint. I explored extraordinary exhibits, enjoyed live music, supported local black vendors, listened to spoken word and sampled the sweets featured on the dessert bar.
During the event, I had the opportunity to tour all of the featured museum exhibitions. I can truly say that my favorite exhibit was the showcase of costume designs, set pieces and photographs celebrating the performance art history of the Dance Theatre of Harlem. I learned all about the classical, professional, dance company, and its impact on black culture. The exhibit will be showcased until 6/26/16, so be sure to check it out before its gone.
Check out the exclusive photos below that feature some of my favorite exhibition pieces!
The next Gannt After Dark event is scheduled to take place on March 24th, from 6-10pm. It’s definately a social event filled with art and culture thats worth checking out.
