🎶Alexa, Play Ciara “Level Up” 🎶
It’s a New Year and we are all trying our best to kick off 2019 in a major way & Level Up! The hard truth is, our 2019 will quickly start to resemble our 2018 if we don’t make changes to our habits and routines.
“Nothing will work unless you do.” -Maya Angelou
I made a promise to myself that I will make the changes necessary to be my best self this year, as a person, as a wife, as a friend, as a sister, as a daughter, as a Christian, and as a business woman.
Level Up #1: Health
I’m making changes to my health and leveling up in two major ways; my eating and my fitness. In the past, I convinced myself that as a foodie, I could never stick with a healthy food program. I also told myself that working out was something that I could do here and there when I had free time, which I never really had. I had convinced myself that I was too busy for a healthy lifestyle after focusing on work, business, family and social activities. I was making these excuses simply because taking care of myself was the last priority on my to-do list.
“We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own ‘to do’ list. – Michelle Obama
I will not continue to put my health last in 2019, so I made a commitment to level up by working out 4 times a week. Last year, I was barely working out 1 day a week, so forming this new fitness habit has required some strategy. I’ve had to be honest and share my health goals with George who encourages me daily to push and stick with it. I’ve also started using a trainer for accountability and an extra push a few times a week. George and I also agreed to make some healthy changes to our diet together as a household. This year, we’ve started eating a plant based diet Monday – Friday, and on the weekends, we give ourselves the flexibility to eat other food groups. In order to make this dietary transition a smooth one, we sought help from the plant based experts at More Human Meal Prep Services , a service that provides flavorful, prepared, plant based meals. I must say, changing my eating habits has me feeling great, and for me, the flexibility on the weekends makes me feel like I’m not missing out on anything. Also, while making these healthy changes, I am proving to myself that I am capable of showing up for myself and doing more than I even knew I was capable of.
Level Up #2: Hair
Last year, I did not wear my natural hair out until around December 2018. I honestly had no clue how to style my natural hair, and I assumed that learning what to do would be challenging, so I convinced myself that I didn’t have time to figure out the whole natural hair thing. Do you see the pattern and bad habit of me running from personal challenges last year? Not anymore!
I am embracing my natural hair journey by learning what products work on my 4C texture, by watching YouTube hair tutorials, by old fashion trial and error, and by asking my friends for tips & tricks. I promise ya’ll, this year, my curls will be popping! I love that I now have given myself the option of not only rocking my wigs and braids, but feeling confident rocking my natural hair out too.
Level Up #3: Business
I’ve always been pretty ambitious with my business goals, especially considering how much I’ve accomplished with my brand while still working a 9 to 5, but this year I’m challenging myself to level up even more.

This year, I’m working on a website refresh that will go live at the end of February 2019. You’ll see Bornmajestic.com level up to be a destination for blog content, blog tools and details about my blog events. You’ll notice that the design and web layout will be very elevated, and the content will be more about you. I’d love to hear from you directly to know more about the type of content that you want to see. Please leave a comment and share your feedback.
I’m currently working on tools & templates for bloggers that will be available to download on my site. I’m currently working on making my Blogger Bootcamp events and my Ignite Your Influence Conference better than ever. With my rebrand, you will no longer see my boutique as I’ve decided to completely focus my efforts on the blog side of my business. I’m making this business shift so that I can truly put out quality content & put my complete focus on making my blog & events the best it can be, while maintaining more balance in my personal life.
In what areas will you decide to level up this year?
